MUST BE NICE

Hooray! I’m back!... I know, I know… It’s been a while but don’t pretend like you missed me much when South Africa has had so much drama in the last month or so… I’m not even sure when I last blogged but it doesn’t really matter now does it? What matters is, I’m back and I’m back with my much loved opinions and brutal honesty. So where do I begin?.... Oh! The Generations cast member strike! One word for the 16 cast members who were fired: HALALA! My respect goes out to each and everyone of you who dared to stand up against the injustices and exploitations of our industry. I’m just grateful that such has happened so that things are able to change for the better for us “new-bees” in the industry. I must say though, Mr Mfundi Vundla don’t play hey… no disrespect but the old man has no chill. I heard that he’s busy sipping on some cocktails somewhere in Paris?. Coincidental as it may be, the alleged boycott was meant to begin today while he’s out of the country… he totally planned this. Wow!. I won’t even lie, before I had my foot on a 12 hour day on set, I also was on some “these actors are greedy” ha! I take my insolent thoughts and opinions back… I can totally understand why they’d decide to stand up and fight the unfair and unjust system. My heart bled for legendary actor, Menzi Ngubane… Such is so unfair! How dare he be made into a mockery by his own employers. Such is just sad. I was also very interested to see the majority of non-actors lashing out at the actors almost like they know anything about the industry… you’d swear they are veterans in the industry with all their negative and uninformed opinions. But hey!... we move along with grace. I hear that their needs have been met and await whether or not MMSV (production company) will open their doors to them again. Word is a new storyline has been written AND I’m even more confused with regards to today’s boycott. Apparently no one should tune into SABC 1 at 20:00 until the matter is solved. So, does this still apply even though their needs are being met or considered? . Oh well, I wish the Generations all the best and I personally am proud for their efforts.

The second big buzz is…. Wait for it… Oscar Pistorius! Ok. Lemme breathe for a sec. The whole country has been in a stir since Judge Thokozile Masipa ruled that Oscar is not guilty of murder but of culpable homicide. Again, our fellow South African brothers and sisters are all suddenly experts in the legal field. Ag, shame… I feel like we should wait for the final sentence on the 13^th of October before we crucify our judiciary system as unfair. Yes sure, the matter is blood boiling but I believe Judge Masipa is no fool, she’s qualified and has handled the case with as much expertise and honesty as can be. While many of you are exploiting the new word yall learned on Thursday “dolus eventualis” NomOscarzazana is a free man for the time being. I never knew South Africans liked things kanje, some of yall took leave just to watch the Oscar trial. Some of you neglected the work that you’re actually paid for to play judge in the Oscar trial. I feel like we need to relax aseblief and wait for the Judge to do what she’s spent years studying for. I also feel like, as much as we have the freedom of speech and expression we have a huge mandate, a RESPONSIBILITY to speak and express in ways that do not reflect negatively on another. Speak sense… know the facts… BEFORE slaughtering experts in their fields of expertise. I think I’ve made my point. My heart goes out however to Reeva’s family. My thoughts and prayers are with them at this very difficult time.

On the International scene, Jay-Z and Beyonce again… (FAT YAWN) While you’re all so busy analysing their lives, their tripling your salaries… Just putting it out there. So apparently, the Jay-Z cheating rumours were started by the couple to boost sales for their “On the Run” tour, Now that’s a whole lot of nonsense. If any of you actually believe that, then my prayers are directed specially for you. Seriously. We also hear that Beyonce is preggies with her second child…. I’ll reserve my comment for when the couple PUBLICLY release a statement that I deem valid that this is indeed true. But in the interim, could we stop liking things tu?? Don’t some of you have groceries to do? It’s pay day for some of you. MUST BE NICE….
